One of the most common questions I get asked in consultation is a simple one: “Should I have Damon Braces or Invisalign?”
There’s no single right answer — it depends on your teeth, your bite, and honestly, your lifestyle too. But after treating hundreds of patients in Fareham with both systems, I can walk you through how I actually help people decide.
What Damon Braces Do Differently
Damon Braces are a fixed brace system, but they work differently to traditional metal braces. Instead of elastic ties holding the wire in place, Damon uses a sliding mechanism, which means lower friction and, for many patients, fewer adjustment visits. Damon Clear uses tooth-coloured brackets if you’d rather they were less noticeable, while Damon metal remains a strong, reliable option for more complex movements.
What Invisalign Does Differently
Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually shift your teeth. Because they’re removable, you can eat what you like and brush and floss normally — no wires to work around. Treatment is digitally planned from the outset, so you get a good sense of the end result before you even start.
So Which One’s Right for You?
Here’s roughly how I think about it with patients:

The Honest Answer
Neither system is objectively “better” — they solve the same problem in different ways, and the right choice depends entirely on your specific teeth, bite, and what fits your life. This is exactly why I don’t try to steer every patient toward one system. At your consultation, I’ll assess your case properly and give you a clear, honest recommendation — including if there’s a genuine case for either option, so you can decide based on what matters most to you.
Once your treatment is complete, whichever system you choose, a retainer will be an important part of keeping your results long-term.
If you’re weighing up Damon Braces against Invisalign, a free online consultation is a good place to start. I’ll take a look at your case and give you a straight answer on what I’d recommend and why.
