Teen Orthodontic Treatment for Class II Bite and Increased Overjet

This teenage patient was concerned that her upper front teeth were sticking out and that her bite did not feel balanced. Clinical examination showed a Class II malocclusion with increased overjet.

To correct the bite relationship and guide jaw development, treatment began with a functional appliance. Functional appliances work with a patient’s natural growth to improve the position of the jaws and reduce the prominence of the upper front teeth.

Once the bite had improved, Damon fixed braces were used to precisely align the teeth and refine the final result.

The treatment achieved:

  • Correction of the Class II bite
  • Reduction of the increased overjet
  • Improved alignment of the teeth
  • A more balanced and natural smile

This case demonstrates how a combination of functional appliance therapy and Damon braces can effectively correct Class II orthodontic problems in growing patients.
